Mauritius

The sophisticated island of Mauritius lies like a rich green emerald in the turquoise velvet of the Indian Ocean. The island is volcanic with thickly wooded mountain peaks towering above a glorious coastline.

The historic capital, Port Louis, still retains much of its original charm with many interesting landmarks and a bustling marketplace offering a good variety of exotic spices, leather goods and souvenirs. The new modern, exclusive Caudan waterfront complex offers cosmopolitan shop and restaurant, a cinema complex and casino.

The big attraction of Mauritius has to be the beautiful white sandy beaches, naturally protected by a coral reef that encircles almost the entire island. The clear, calm waters off the coast offer ideal conditions for a variety of watersports including scuba diving, snorkelling and windsurfing.  The island is also a paradise for deep sea fishing trips , try your luck at the blue or black marlin and the barracuda.
