Languages
There are 11 official langauges in South Africa including Engish (widely spoken) , Afrikaans, Ndebele. Northern Sotho, Southern Sotho, Swazi, Tsonga, Tswana, Venda, Xhosa and Zulu.
Climate
South Africa has Southern Hemisphere seasons.  Midsummer is December/January and midwinter is June/July.  Winter is mild in South Africa and is an ideal time for game viewing as the sparse vegetation makes it easier to see wildlife.

Generally no vaccination certicficates are required, however visitors from a yellow fever zone must have a valid certificate.

Malaria
Many of the main tourist area's are malaria free, however Kruger National Park, the Lowveld of Mpumalanga and Limpopo, and the northern part of KwaZulu-Natal do pose a malaria risk in the summer months. Please consult your doctor before travelling.
