Victoria Falls is the largest curtain of falling water in the world, a World Heritage Site and a Natural wonder, it is undoubtedly one of the world's most spectacular sites. The Falls and the Zambezi River are shared by Zambia and Zimbabwe, with the Victoria Falls being the physical landmark that separates these two countries.
Below the mists of The Falls, there is a bridge across the mighty Zambezi River and this firms the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe. The Falls are at their wettest and most spectacular by the end of the summer rainy season in March. During this time the area is covered in a perpetual smoke-like mist. The photo opportunities are better towards the end of the dry season September and October, because there is less mist, but this also means less water in the Falls.
For the more adventurous why not bungee jump off the railway bridge and white water rafting through the Batoka Gorge downfall of the Falls.
A visit to Victoria Falls can easily be combined with a holiday to South Africa as regular flights operate from Johannesburg to Livingstone.
